The Faces project was stared by local artist, Christine Ilewski, to raise awareness regarding gun violence. Christine began painting portraits of children who have died of gun violence and she donates her portraits to the victim's family. These powerful portraits will be exhibited at the Vaughn Cultural Center Friday, April 19th, from 5 to 9pm. Christine will speak about her project at 6:15, followed by poetry readings.

We would like to invite area artists to join us in painting portraits. Please contact Christine Ilewski at or Jane Linders at if you would like more information. Artists are invited to attend the opening receiption and meet the families who are bringing photos of their deceased children.

We plan on expanding this project nationally and intend to exhibit current and new portraits in Chicago this fall.

If you know of anyone who's child (age 20yrs or younger) was a victim of gun violence and would like a portrait, please contact Jane Linders or Christine Ilewski.
