Daniel Burnett of the Screwed Arts Collective, Mural Installation & Recent Works, Exhibition / Opening

March 25th - April 29th

Opening Reception: Friday, March 25th, 5-8 p.m.

Daniel Burnett grew up in Chicago and began painting graffiti at the age of 14. At age 16 he began taking his art practice seriously as a way to curb self-destructive models of behavior. What started as a form of therapy grew into an obsessive practice that has been refined over the past 15 years. Daniel prefers his work to be an indulgence in process and focus on aesthetic over communication of a specific idea or didactical content. Daniel structures his work around narrative while utilizing figurative elements to act as a bridge between work and viewer.

Daniel’s paintings are psychedelic orchestrations exploring tension and fluidity in ever changing mercurial patterns.  Marks and shapes of color establish rules of format and then break their own rules, creating structured and highly technical, though interrupted and imperfect, compositions. These incredibly precise compositions are achieved without the use of tape or stencil.
