This group is set up as an open forum for STL area artists to get together and talk about what strategies have worked and have not. Ideas regarding portfolios, artist statements, biographies, how to talk with collectors. Helping your fellow artists by giving your advice on your own personal experiences. This is not the group to promote your artwork. Any derogatory comments will be immediately removed. Play nicely.See More
We live in a city with so many talented artists. Many of which have huge bodies of work and are interested in bartering with one another to expand their art collection. Please use this group to post & facilitate meeting and enjoying one another's art. Post photos make offers. No monetary offers can be made. This is not a group to sell art, we have many other outlets for that. Any derogatory comments will be immediately deleted. Play nice and have fun.See More
If an artist/art student, my primary medium or mixed media is:
Born in Puerto Rico and it being such a colorful culture, Rocio has had a passion for color since she was a young child. She began painting at a young age but the older she got, the less that she concentrated in painting and drawing. In college, she majored in Psychology and minored in Art but her interest in the Arts stayed at the bottom of her priority list. She always knew she wanted to have that in her life yet, it simply wasn’t important for her then. Rocio began her master degree in Counseling and after a year, decided to stop for many different reasons. She wanted to take up painting again but somehow, it didn’t satisfy her. A few months later, she decided to try her hand in Photography. It took her a few months to teach herself and learn everything she could until she found Fine Art Photography. She had never heard of or seen this genre before and once she discovered it, knew she had discovered her niche. She soaked in everything she could and at the same time opened an online group for it. The more she learned about this type of photography, the more her group grew. The group now has over two thousand members. It’s environment is one of the safest and most fun and its success does not stop growing. They are now doing their second group exhibition while planning their third. It has even become a business in where many projects are in the works that will benefit many people. Rocio has exhibited her work at Behuman Gallery in Houston, Tx and now in City Arts Factory in Orlando, Fl. Rocio has also been a part of a new event series called Fete Event Series where each year, its director will create a lavish art event for local St. Louis, Mo artists.. Rocio was the production assistant at this event; this included assisting in the filming of the promotion video among other things. She has now become a leader in a very successful and growing community of artists from all around the world. Her group and business, Fine Art Portrait Photography Guild, will hopefully become even more well known in the art world so that all of the members can live in a world where their form of art can be recognized by many.
If you're an artist/art student, don't forget to add a brief artist's statement and photos of three of your art works to either your "comment wall" or "text box." This is your basic St. Louis Art Directory information. Later you may add images, videos, post a blog, and much more.
Some of us, our whole lives, we spend searching for a way to express who we are and what we bring to this world. Sometimes, we don’t find it but sometimes, we do! Through this genre of photography and art, I found out that I was able to create fantasies or alternate worlds where my soul could depict its remembrance of past lives or wishes for future ones. Hence, showing me who I am. There’s more, however; it is also about the belief that one starts small and evolves into something and someone bigger and better where eventually, peace can be reached. Through my images, I want the viewer to feel like they are stepping into a surreal planet where only fantasies from the distant past, future, or anything in between, can exist. Most of my images are about me or about a character. Each portrait, when photographed, is entirely and completely different from the end result. Hours and hours are dedicated to each individual photograph until finally, my soul approves of its story.
