If an artist/art student, my primary medium or mixed media is:
Living in many places through the years...and though each at different stages of my life, arts and crafts is always in my heart. My creativity never stopped, but my hearing slowly did and eventually becoming deaf for 20 years. Painting was my therapy….paintings became the words I could not hear or say….giving them away to friends and family.
I was blessed to be able to get a Cochlear Implant, and now can hear and converse with others! With my new "ear" I found my self-confidence again by taking art classes, meeting other artist, and volunteering at Milan Art Institute while learning to be social, again. During this time I loosened my brushstrokes, learn different techniques and established myself as an artist….finding my passion for texture, impressionism, and realism with a hint of abstract using mixed media.
Another relocation move, another Cochlear Implant to have bilateral hearing….still painting, still making new friends, still learning new techniques and skills, but something has changed inside me. I love the social part of my life, back to enjoying conversations, sharing my knowledge, learning new things with other people. I will always be an artist, it’s in my heart, but I am letting go of the selling myself. I am ready to start enjoying life as an artist that can hear, paint, share, learn, while making friends along the way. Look out world here I come!
