About Me:
I am an artist in St. Louis and graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute. I create life-sized figurative paintings that engage energetic brushwork, hot colors, and layers of painted flesh to explore the human body as a changeable, growing force.

Artist Statement

My aim is to question our primal, physical connection to our own bodies and how flesh connects us to each other as human beings.

In my figurative oil paintings, the systems that construct our bodies are a microcosm of motion, rhythm, transfer, cycle, and repair that work together to sustain the spark of life. Through these same processes, our bodies instinctively know how to regenerate. Flesh is only birthed out of flesh through this age-old process. My oil paintings explore this cycle of history and regeneration as they evolve on canvas during the painting process.

My ink wash series seeks to discover how we're connected emotionally. In these psychological landscapes, wispy thoughts spring forth into gardens of thought. A mind becomes calm, meditative, in a sea of soft waves.  The viewer is allowed to discover their own emotional response through the convergence of the figure and the flow of ink on paper.
