Advice on Portfolios & Gallery Representation

This group is set up as an open forum for STL area artists to get together and talk about what strategies have worked and have not. Ideas regarding portfolios, artist statements, biographies, how to talk with collectors. Helping your fellow artists by giving your advice on your own personal experiences. This is not the group to promote your artwork. Any derogatory comments will be immediately removed. Play nicely.See More

"Phil, you asked if my Slice of Life painting is a crucifixion. It is an abstraction open to interpretation. The lines were intentional but it was not specifically intended to be representative of crucifixion. Does this answer your question? Mark"

Witzling

I am an:
Artist, Art Supporter
If an artist/art student, my primary medium or mixed media is:
Painting
About Me:
Choosing to work almost exclusively with oil as a paint medium of choice, I use a variety of mixed media elements within my abstract work to create layers of colors and texture. By using this physical process of addition and removal I am striving to create visually interesting experiences to which I have an emotional response. For me, painting is a release – a way to express and share my personality.

I began to focus on oil painting following a trip to Italy in which I was inspired by the frescoes and paintings in Rome and Florence. My abstract works currently use a multi-media oil and cold wax technique which blends wax and oil without heat.
