I am a professional artist who lives in the St. Louis area. I exhibit my artwork at galleries, restaurants, coffee houses, festivals and fairs. I paint primarily in acrylics and also use mixed media. I have completed 9 Public Artworks.
If you're an artist/art student, don't forget to add a brief artist's statement and photos of three of your art works to either your "comment wall" or "text box." This is your basic St. Louis Art Directory information. Later you may add images, videos, post a blog, and much more.
Genevieve Esson has a B.A. in painting from Webster University, an award winning artist, her work is collected locally and internationally. Esson is a painter and mixed media artist and has completed 9 public artworks. The latest: 2015: A playhouse design for Raise The Roof, a fundraiser for Friends Of Wings and BJC Children’s Hospice & Palliative Care. A bus mural for Metro Bus Arts In Transit for St. Louis Earth Day, sponsored by Project Clear STL. 2014: A hummingbird design on a Traffic Signal Box for the City of Manchester. She painted four - 4’ high cake sculptures for the 250th birthday celebration of St. Louis: Cakeway To The West Birthday Celebration. Locations were Missouri Botanical Garden, Compton Hill Water Tower, Lincoln Douglas Square & Payne Gentry House. 2013: Painted a life-sized dog statue for the Animal Protective Association 90th Birthday Bash, bought by Parkcrest Plastic Surgery. Painted a shed mural for Franz Park Community Garden. 2011: A bus mural for Metro Bus Arts In Transit, for Missouri Botanical Garden, sponsored by Ameren Missouri. 2010: She designed a larger-than-life painted butterfly for Wings In The City, bought by Dierbergs. 2009 - 2010: Genevieve painted 3 life-sized lion statues for University City, one is on permanent display at Heman Park and the other two are in private collections. Words from the artist: “My artwork is an extension of my inner thought processes and perceptions of the world around me. I have a very strong desire to convey the beauty and spirituality of the natural world, painting mainly in acrylics and adding some mixed media to the work. Using bright colors and energetic line movement I paint with passion and precision. Each piece is unique and speaks for itself. The subject matter varies, and it usually tells a story. I want to keep exploring and growing with art, making the world a better place painting. My inspirations are varied: nature, animals, music, illuminated manuscripts, beauty, color, trees, dreams, spirituality and art history. Having to feel connected and passionate when creating, I gather ideas for new artworks going about my daily life. Sketching it out, recycling ideas from past artworks, it becomes another project, opening the door for new creativity.” You can find more information about Esson on her websites: WEBSITE: FINE ART AMERICA PORTFOLIO: BLOG:

Another Snow Day and Iguanas Falling Out Of Trees in Florida!

I get to do more artwork today during daylight hours. Thank you snow! Thank you freezing temperatures!
I keep thinking of the Iguanas falling out of the trees down in Florida. This cold snap is not good for them. They
are cold-blooded, and when the temperatures drop, they fall asleep, and go into hybernation mode, thus the falling out of the treeszzzzzzz!!!

Hi Nora,
What a great idea! I finally got a chance to look at the poems by these talented students! how amazing! I would like to participate, but I have
alot of venues I am working on at the moment. I am overwhelmed by all the artsit opportunities, and it's wonderful,
but can only participate in so many. I really appreciate your interest in my art! :) I will try to submit a piece of artwork, for this
wonderful event! I would love to, but I must get my other art opps done first. Thank you so much!

My name is Nora Doyle, the Physical Education Coordinator at America SCORES St. Louis.

We’re hosting an art show and fundraiser on March 20, 2010, and would like for you to submit one or more pieces to our event. I’ve included some information below. Please contact me if you have any questions about the project. Thanks in advance!

The Inspired Art Project enlists local artists to create and submit original works, inspired by original poetry written by students participating in America SCORES St. Louis. Started by another SCORES affiliate in the Bay Area, the Inspired Art Project is an exciting national model for community collaboration.

On, March 20, 2010, the selected artwork will be collected and displayed at our annual Inspired Art Show. Proceeds from the event will support America SCORES St. Louis, a unique, comprehensive, youth development program which uses the tools of poetry, soccer, creative expression and service-learning to equip and inspire urban youth to lead healthy lifestyles, become engaged students, and grow into leaders for their schools and communities.

Interested artists need to register ASAP in order to submit their work to the event. Artists may choose to collect 25% of the final auction price for their work, or can donate all or a portion of the commission back to America SCORES St. Louis. Other artist benefits include:

• Free admission to the event (includes two complimentary drinks)
• Free guest tickets (up to 3) to the event
• Listing on our event website,
• Listing in our event program

For more information, please visit or call Matt at 314-533-0302.
