Over forty artists from across the country are represented in the Foundry Art Centre’s latest exhibition, Soapbox, a visual discussion of a broad range of topics, including politics, medicine, morality, religion, societal issues, and causes. From September 30 – November 11, 2016, witness a chorus of voices and viewpoints in Gallery I & II as artists “get on their soapbox.” Juried by award-winning socio-political artist Michael Fischerkeller, this new exhibition will open with a reception on Friday, September 30 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. The juror will be in attendance to give a gallery talk at 5:30pm before the reception begins.
Alongside Soapbox, Missouri State University animation instructor and artist Vonda Yarberry, award winner from the Foundry Art Centre’s 2015 exhibition Contemporary Women Artists XVII: Reimagining Femmage, will exhibit in Gallery III. A local artist will exhibit their work as part of the Emerging Artist Series in the Ameristar Gallery.
Enjoy food and drinks while chatting with Soapbox’s participating artists at the opening reception and be sure to head to the mezzanine level to visit with the Foundry Art Centre studio artists. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Both exhibitions will open Friday, September 30 and close Friday, November 11, 2016. Financial assistance for these exhibitions is provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
